You Are A Living Paradox
Inner harmony starts with self-actualization.
You have a mother and father. Therefore, you have two sides to your extended family. There are people you and I know that only acknowledge or interact with ONE side of that extended family. This could be for various reasons. Whatever. The point is … you have a whole section of your ancestry, lineage, genetic history that is hidden from you or you are blind to.
I use this example to demonstrate this notion, symbolically, for how you may be neglecting a whole side of your very being that you were not “taught” to embrace. It could be because of the religion you practice. It could be because of fear of the unknown. It could be just too far fetched that you are a dual being. Whatever it is, let’s break the ice. Let’s dig in!!!
Cinema
Have you ever seen the 1999 film “Being John Malkovich?” Definitely an odd movie, but brilliant in my eyes. Without going into the plot or the characters, it preps your mind for the notion that you are not in total control. That there is an influence behind the scenes — specific to you — that is guiding you and has its own intent and rationale. I relate this to the Soul (or Spirit if you so choose). It has a definite agenda and mission that is separate from what YOU (and your physical self) is set out to do or achieve. There is no means to escape the notion that you have a Soul that animates your existence. When you die,“something” leaves your body because the Host (You) is no longer functional.
Marriage
For those familiar with the 7 principles of Hermeticism, I’ll point to the Law of Correspondence. To learn more about Hermeticism, Colton Swabb wrote about it, brilliantly, here.
As above, so below; as below, so above. As within, so without; as without, so within.
Higher nature corresponds to lower nature. There is micro representation of the macro in all things in the Universe. Here’s my point, marriage is a lower representation of a higher understanding. The original marriage is between the soul and body. This is the Holy Union. Those with a religious background will recognize this as The Word (flesh) and the Spirit. What you see on Earth is the marriage between two people, but those two people are physical representations of a greater, Universal concept.
Biology
There are multiple types of symbiosis in nature as well as examples of each. Symbiosis would be the biological interaction between two different organisms. For this discussion, we’ll focus on “Mutualism.” Let’s look at the clownfish:
In a cleaning symbiosis the clownfish feeds on small invertebrates, that otherwise have potential to harm the sea anemone, and the fecal matter from the clownfish provides nutrients to the sea anemone. The clownfish is protected from predators by the anemone’s stinging cells, to which the clownfish is immune, and the clownfish emits a high pitched sound that deters butterfly fish, which would otherwise eat the anemone. The relationship is therefore classified as mutualistic.
The Soul is infinite. The body is finite. The relationship is beneficial to both. The Soul is insulated and protected within the body. The body has life. I see a great correlation between the clownfish and how it serves and is served by the anemones. They are teammates. The Soul and body operate in the same fashion.
You have an internal power source. I’m thinking you can feel it, but maybe you attribute it to a person, place, or thing outside of you. You have an inner push to go a certain direction, but maybe you let other people talk you out of the journey. What I’m describing is some-what of a Catch-22:
a dilemma or difficult circumstance from which there is no escape because of mutually conflicting or dependent conditions.
Your physical self and your spiritual self are a team and should work together. Here in lies the problem. What other people are doing or their opinions have nothing to do with you and your teammate. Listen to the World or listen to your Soul. It’s totally up to you.
